What procedures does Wilson Dental Offer?

Just about everything under the sun, which includes cleanings, x-rays, exams, fluoride treatment, fillings (white and silver), extractions, wisdom tooth removal, dentures, partials, crowns, bridges, braces, and root canals. Many of these procedures are performed by licensed dental specialists, the rest are performed by licensed general dentists.

Which dental specialists are on your team?

  • Pediatric dentist
  • Orthodontist (straightening teeth)
  • Oral surgeon (removing wisdom teeth)
  • Dental anesthesiologist (IV Sedation, General Anesthesia, - "Sleep Dentistry")

Are there any types of dental treatment procedures that Wilson Dental cannot perform?

At this time, Wilson Dental does not place or maintain implants, nor do we perform periodontal procedures beyond standard deep cleanings and scaling and root planing. Besides that, there are occasions when a patient has a health situation that prevents us from safely treating him/her. In those cases we will provide you with a referral to a neighboring office that can meet your needs. For all other dental needs, we can take on just about anything else!

How old does my child have to be to be seen for an exam?

The age ranges we treat varies by office, so please call to discuss this with the Wilson Dental location closest to you. In our offices that are equipped to treat children, we will see your child for their first checkup as young as 6 months old. In fact, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry says that all kids should have their first dental visit by Age 1 at the latest. Children should see the dentist when their first tooth appears (which is usually around 6 months, although it can vary between 3 months and 10 months), but no later than their first birthday.

What do I need to know to best take care of my children's teeth?

Your child should have his/her teeth brushed well (twice a day), starting when the first teeth appear (generally about 6 months). Limit the amount of sugar that your child consumes. Never put your child to sleep with a bottle that includes anything other than water. Start bringing your child to the dentist as soon as the first teeth appear.

Remember, baby teeth do matter for the development of your child's face and adult teeth!

How do I know if I qualify for Medicaid and how would I apply if I do qualify?

Please refer to your local Department of Health, or go to www.nystateofhealth.ny.gov to see which NYS plans you and your family qualify for.
